Pre-Mission: Your missioner will preach at all the weekend

Masses prior to the mission(which usually begins on Monday evening. This gives everyone in the parish an opportunity to see and hear the missioner and be personally invited to attend.

 

Evening Mission: The heart of Mission is the evening celebration of Eucharist with the mission talk at the time of homily. It usually begins on Monday evening at 7:00 pm and continues every night llasting about 70 minutes. Afterwards, a food/drink social is encouraged.

 

Daytime Outreach: The daytime hours are balanced between the visitation of the homebound and responding to the individual needs of the local parish. This usually means individual counseling/direction appointments with individuals.

 

Reconciliation: The theme of reconciliation is always included in a Vincentian Parish Mission. The expression of it is varied and worked out in the planning process with your missioner.

 

How Much Does a Mission Cost?

The Vincentians do not charge anything (even travel expenses) to be with you. There is no fee for giving a parish mission. In the spirit of St. Vincent DePaul who believed our life and work as Vincentians shold be dependent upon the charity of the people, we ask for a free will offering at the completion of the mission. We depend upon this, and only this for our ministry.

 

How About Room and Board for the Missioners?

 

As guests of the parish, the expectation is that the host parish would provide room and board for the visiting priest(s). We usually stay at the rectory, a nearby motel is fine.
